“When I started this journey, I knew I needed to operate under a name that would convey joy, love, and happiness. There are very few things in this life that embody those qualities all at once, besides wearing a napping baby on your chest, but one particular name came to mind immediately.”
Who was Dixie?
In 2007, a very awesome puppy came into my life and from day one she was the sweetest presence in my life. When I married and we welcomed our first daughter, our beagle loved her from the second she sniffed the fluffy newborn mohawk. Dixie was quietly patient, loving with an unconditional fervor, snuggly, and so very joyful. She loved a nap in the warm sunshine. She was a happy companion on all our adventures and a calm presence when things were tough. Her name was my oldest daughter’s first word. Dixie was an amazing, constant presence in our lives and my gratitude for her is profound. We love her fiercely.
Dixie was suddenly taken from us in March 2015. We still talk about how awesome she was every day. Her generosity of spirit inspires me in my work with babies and families. My goal is that every one of my clients feels at least as happy and loved as Dixie made my family feel.
So, here I am. Spreading the DixieLove.
